Rough sawn softwood and hardwood timber planed to your required thickness and finish. From regularised structural timber to smooth-faced PAR boards for joinery — processed to precise tolerances on our professional thicknesser.
Our thicknesser processes rough sawn softwood and hardwood timber to your required thickness and surface finish. Whether you need structurally regularised timber for a building project or smooth-faced PAR boards for interior joinery, we can plane it to precise tolerances.
Bring your own rough sawn timber or discuss material supply with us. We serve trade professionals — builders, joiners, and carpenters — as well as DIY customers working on home projects who want better surface quality than standard off-the-shelf timber provides.
PAR (Planed All Round) is smooth on all four faces — ideal for visible joinery, furniture, and interior work. Regularised is planed to a consistent size but not necessarily smooth — used mainly for structural stud work and framing. Just describe your project and we'll advise.
The right finish depends on how the timber will be used. We'll advise if you're unsure.
All four faces machined smooth to consistent dimensions. The premium finish for any timber that will be seen or touched — interior joinery, furniture, shelving, staircases, and decorative work.
Two faces (top and bottom) planed smooth, two faces left sawn. Used where only the flat faces are visible or where cost needs to be kept down without sacrificing dimensional accuracy.
Timber planed to a consistent width and depth for structural use. Not a cosmetic finish — the surface may remain rough. Used where dimensional consistency matters more than appearance.
Both types can be planed — the approach and tooling differs. Tell us your species and we'll confirm.
The most common timber for construction and interior joinery. Softwoods plane quickly and cleanly, making them ideal for high-volume jobs. Commonly used for studwork, carcassing, skirting, architrave, and general joinery where painting or coating is the final finish.
Hardwoods require more careful processing but deliver outstanding results for furniture, flooring, staircases, and heritage joinery. We plane hardwood to your required finished dimensions with a smooth face ready for sanding, oiling or finishing.
Tell us your timber species, rough sawn dimensions, required finished size and finish type. We'll come back with a clear price.
